A play in three acts and nine scenes. During a period of residence in London, Kambanellis attended a performance of the play West side story and is deeply impressed. As a result, he writes the folk opera The Courtyard of the Angels, in which the wealthy Xenia meets Andreas, a poor worker. Their love, incompatible both with the conventions of the working-class neighborhood and with those of respectable society, must confront the obstacle of the social divide. The strength of their love succeeds in bridging these differences only after a tragic ending.
